Girlfriendology

Girlfriendology is all about women befriending women, and sometimes that even means referring you to other women (or in this case, women’s sites). So, we’re starting a new tradition here at Girlfriendology. A ‘Friday Top Ten‘ listing of sites we’d like to share with our girlfriends. (And we welcome your favorite sites and comments!)

To get us started, we have some great women’s communities that we thought you should check out:

1. BUZZEN - How could we NOT recommend a site that will make your life better, and your dreams a reality? BuzZen is a company that focuses on supporting women in becoming all they were meant to be. They offer coaching, a book (”Attraction Actions - New ‘Bee’-haviors for Creating the Life you Deserve“), more products and an upcoming teleseminar on how to get your business ‘buzzen!’ (Listen in to Jody’s podcast.)
2. SMARTNOW - Julie is a smart woman. I know, I’ve interviewed her on a Girlfriendology podcast and she believes in women sharing their wisdom so she created SmartNow. If you are a woman who is looking toward or back at 40, then SmartNow is designed for you. It is a comprehensive information, referral and community site focused on your needs. The site features blogs from experts in Health, Nutrition, Fitness, Beauty, Style and Relationships.
3. SINGLE MINDED WOMEN - Single? Welcome home! SingleMindedWomen is an online web community devoted exclusively to the needs of single women. Providing a place to support and honor their lifestyle choice, their mission is to provide a trusted community where single women can come together to share their views.
4. FABULOUSLY 40 - Yana Berlin recently did a podcast with us also and shared how she created Fabulously 40 to enable women to make connections, build relationships, and nurture and support each other as they grow and mature through this exciting stage of their lives.
5. ASK PATTY - Do you love buying and maintaining a car? Probably not. It’s something women often dread, but no longer! Check out AskPatty.com for car-loads of women-friendly automotive information from girlfriend Jody (yep, did a great podcast - we’ve enterviewed the best of the best!).
6. STARTUP PRINCESS - No, we haven’t interviewed Kelly yet, but we want to. She’s just too busy right now with some amazing things happening on her site for women entrepreneurs. She recently had a very successful event, Touchpoint, and is getting ready for another amazing event, Marketing to Women Online.
7. ABOUT.COM / WOMEN’S ISSUES - From talking about moms and kids online on NPR’s “Talk of the Nation” to writing about topics that impact women’s lives for both print and online media, Linda Lowen knows what matters to women. As a long-term survivor of ovarian cancer, she is a nationally-recognized public speaker on ovarian cancer survivorship.
8. YES TO FINANCIAL FITNESS - Judith Stephens understands something most of us women don’t - money! Not that we’re not smart or capable, it’s just, as she shared in an interview for an upcoming podcast, we’re not taught how to handle our money and it’s the one subject we generally don’t talk about. Visit her site, listen in to her on our future podcast and get to know what you need to know about financial fitness. You’ll be glad you met Judith!
   
9. SPARKPEOPLE - Need that little spark to get you back on the healthy track? Maybe some helpful advice and a community of support? Well, Sparkpeople and their family of sites can help you do just that. Not just for women, but with a large female community, Sparkpeople gets you motivated with great info that starts that spark to a healthy life.
10. WORDS TO MOUTH - So many of us are book lovers, but we never get past the page. Girlfriend Carrie, wanted to take us further - to the authors and their words behind the words so she created Words to Mouth and started interviewing authors on her podcasts. Listen in for insights into books and authors, as well as lots of contests. (Listen in to our interview with Carrie.)

I’ve had the honor of meeting so many great women on the Internet. Carrie, Jody, Julie and so many others have been great girlfriends in sharing ideas, contacts, links and their time with me in my pursuit of growing Girlfriendology - and I’m very grateful!
