Who doesn’t love Girlfriend books?!

Bibliophile or friend of one (a book lover), it’s aways great to find new ‘chick lit’ for a friend or for you. So, here are some of our Girlfriendology favorite girlfriend books from some amazing best-selling authors for your (or your girlfriend’s) reading pleasure or for your girlfriend book club!

ANYTHING BY KRIS RADISH

Kris Radish was our first podcast and our first video interviews (and you never forget your first!). She’s a wonderfully kind woman who agreed to chat with Girlfriendology even when we’d never done a podcast before and she’s been a girlfriend over the past year by staying in touch, doing the video, sending in prizes, etc. PLUS, and this is a BIG plus, she writes awesome books that always introduce you to a new set of girlfriends that you care about and love getting to know.

Take Searching for Paradise in Parker PA - (coming out in paperback in Spring 09) Meet Addy Lipton who is suffering from a 28-year marriage that has become stale. What ensues is a summer of separation, discovering personal desires and strong female friendships - and adventures along the way. As Amazon says, “Girl-power readers will get a kick out of the hokey girl get-togethers, and women will surely connect with Radish’s empowered femmes.”

Elegant Gathering of White Snows - Is my personal favorite Kris Radish book. Probably because it introduced me to Kris and her warm, funny, endearing books with strong female friendships and lessons. In this book, eight women start out one night just walking. They’re walking away from their lives and not sure what they’re walking toward, but they continue walking. (We’ve all wanted to walk away at some point - they do it!) Read for the lessons they learn, their telling conversations and the bond that they form together and even with complete strangers.

Did I mention that Kris Radish books make GREAT girlfriend book club books? Our book club read Elegant Gathering and had a wonderful discussion.

LORNA LANDVIK is another great girlfriend author.

Our book club read “Angry Housewives Eating Bonbons” and “Patty Jane’s House of Curls” - both awesome. I’ve read some of her newer books too - “The View from Mount Joy” and “Your Oasis on Flame Lake.” And, now that I’ve found it, I might have to buy “State Fair” for my Minnesotan husband (who loves all food on a stick!).

Author DEBBIE MACOMBER has so many books to her credit that I think she’s lost track - and she just keeps coming up with more. Actually, her publisher does keep track and she has over 100 million books in print. Isn’t that amazing?! We had the honor of talking with Debbie on a recent podcast. She’s great and I’d love to introduce you to all of her books but we’ll start with a few:

Twenty Wishes - a PERFECT book for book clubs, it will have you discussing your dreams and wishes. This book actually caused a Girlfriendology newsletter to go out late - because I had to finish reading it!

The Blossom Street series, Cedar Cove series and, you can imagine with all those books in print, so many more!

Also, for your knitters (or friends of knitters, you know who you are), Debbie also has accompanying books often with knitting patterns to go along with her books AND she has knitting accessories. I don’t know how she has time to do all this - but I’m glad she does!
