Sorry Bengals, but we’re predicting more cheering and fun in Oakley this Sunday than at Paul Brown! Girlfriends will start the celebration at noon in honor of National Women’s Friendship Day. See all the info below.
And, for the record, we’re in our own kind of training as we prepare for the next Sunday and fabulous female friend time at a wine bottling event at TINO VINO in Hyde Park.

“Shop in the City”
celebration in Oakley
THIS Sunday, Sept. 14th
from noon to 4pm.
Bring or meet girlfriends for a great day of shopping, snacking, winning and laughing - all at three stores on Madison Road and Brazee Street in Oakley. There will be gift bags for the first 100 attendees as well as prizes, special discounts and food and drink.
New updates:
- Guest artists Tracy Updike and Jess Adkins will be selling several of their handcrafted items at Red Tree Art Gallery and Coffee Shop.
- Live music will be performed on Brazee Street during that event. From 12:00- 2:00 Dave Schneider will be performing on sitar and from 2:00-4:00 SKY will be playing her eclectic and evocative gypsy jazz.
- At 1:00 Pete Haggenjos of the Thrive Chiropractic Center, will be speaking on “Boosting Your Health and Energy: 7 Ways Chiropractic Care Improves Your Vitality.” He will also be available for chair massages until 2:00.
- Stop by Casa DeLorenzo to sign up for a chance to win a free 1 hour in-home color consultation with interior designer Tina DeLorenzo.
- Remember: Great gift bags for the first 100 women plus prizes and shopping specials all day!

“Shop in the City” will flow through three women-owned businesses in Oakley:

Nest is a style, gift and home store at 3814 Madison Road. Five percent of sales at Nest that day will go to the Academy of Medicine Alliance of Cincinnati Health, Education and Service Fund which provides health, education scholarships and supports organizations such as First Step Home, Glad House, and Kids Helping Kids. Nest will offer an additional 5% off at this event as well as other specials.

Casa DeLorenzo is a designer pillow store with jewelry and interior design services around the corner from Nest at 4405 Brazee. For a ’sneak peak’ at these designer pillows visit their Etsy store.

Red Tree Gallery is a coffee shop and art gallery at 4409 Brazee. Red Tree will offer a yummy coffee drink special just for you and your girlfriends!

It’s Wine Time for Girlfriends!
NEXT Sunday, Sept. 21st - 1 to 3pm
Celebrate National Women’s Friendship Day with your girlfriends at a special event hosted by Girlfriendology and Tino Vino!
The event, from 1 - 3 p.m., features bottling one of two varietals of wine (with a special girlfriend label) as well as snacks, wine and fun activities for women. Event includes:
- A bottle of red or white wine (that you’ll bottle yourself!) to take home
- Wine and beverages during the events
- Appetizers and yummy desserts
- Activities at the event - including a professional photographer for a photo shoot with you and your girlfriends!
- Gift bags for everyone
- And PRIZES!
Space is limited to the first 50 women.
TINO VINO is a boutique winery, wine bar and wine making facility in East Hyde Park - 3665 Erie Ave. Their state-of-the-art winemaking facilities allow girlfriends to make their own custom wines, including custom labels, using the same ingredients and equipment used by many of the top wineries in Napa and Sonoma Counties.
Registration is required to prepare for wine bottling and food/beverage for event. Order tickets NOW for you and your girlfriends. You won’t want to miss this fun time!

National Women’s Friendship Day
 National Women’s Friendship Day was created in 1999 by Kappa Delta Sorority® to inspire women to reconnect with the female friends who make us healthier, happier, less stressed, live longer and even feel prettier - our girlfriends!
Get healthier - spend time with your girlfriends! We all know that friendship can make us happier, but now we know that friendship can make us healthier. Studies have found that social ties reduce our risk of disease by lowering blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol, major risk factors for heart disease. National Women’s Friendship Day is a great opportunity to celebrate these important friendships.

 More Great Cincinnati EventsSept. 11th: Tasting Wine for a Great Cause - The Party Source is hosting a wine tasting where 100% of the proceeds go to the Krystal Pepper Memorial Scholarship Fund, in memory of Krystal, a Thomas More student who died unexpectedly last year at 21. Cost is $40 per person and more information is at www.klpscholarship.org.
Sept. 12th: Redtree Gallery Opening - 6-10pm, International Juried Exhibition: A Small Glimpse: life from the perspective of artists all over the world. All work is 5″x5″ or smaller. Show will run September 8th through October 4th, 2008.
